Got a question? Here are the ones we’ve been asked so far.

Does the Goddess/Monster need to be something from an existing mythology, or can they be made up?

The Goddess or Monster need to be from an existing mythology. When you submit we will ask which mythology you are drawing from so we can familiarise ourselves before we read your story.

My story is Greek/Roman mythology which you say you don’t want - can I submit?

We love Greek and Roman mythology, but we can only print one or two of a particular mythology to leave room for variety, and if 50-60% of the stories we get are in the Greek/Roman pantheon, that means your chances of acceptance are much lower. We are not saying don’t do it, we’re just saying the odds aren’t hugely in your favour.

How much sex constitutes “erotica”?

This is a bit “we know it when we see it”, but essentially if the sex serves the story and not the other way around, submit it.

My Goddess/Monster is bisexual - can the story revolve around a relationship with a man?

You can submit it, but the audience for this anthology is women-loving-women. A story that revolves ONLY around an m/f pairing even if the character is openly bisexual is unlikely to be selected. Shifting it to a more poly idea might be a better choice.

I identify as he/him - can I submit if the story has sapphic characters?

No. This anthology requires all authors to be female identifying or non-binary.

You say don’t base the story in ancient times. If my story is in a historical context, is that allowed?

Yes, as long as that historical context removes the Goddess/Monster from their original or traditional setting and gives us a new perspective on them.
