The Monstrous and the Divine: Final Submission Round-Up
For those who are already signed up to the newsletter, you’ll have already seen a brief note from our series editor, Veronica Holmes, at the end of the last Who Am I? story sneak peak. If you aren’t signed up to the newsletter yet but wanna be, here’s a quick link.
But allow me to reiterate some of what was in that newsletter here:
Over our three month submission window for The Monstrous and the Divine, we received a total of 235 submissions. Our intrepid series editor received so many politely worded emails coming in on the wire that she took pity on our sapphic writers and extended our submission window for an additional week!
This number of submissions for our second sapphic themed anthology has offered us a truly amazing selection of stories to choose from, including ones containing a couple of mythologies I was unfamiliar with and enjoyed doing a bit of reading up on.
From the bottom of our hearts here at Scylla, thank you to everyone who submitted. I can assure you that you’ve all made our job at pulling together a short list incredibly difficult.
Final stories are in the process of being read this week. From there, we’ll start the process of locking in a few of the selections for mythologies we received quite a few submissions for, which should help us to narrow things down a little from the current shortlist of 45, towards our final 22 stories and poems!
Currently that task is being slated for completion in August/September (fingers crossed to us!) with responses to all authors being aimed for the end of September.
